The downstairs part of this hotel is really nice with lots of beautiful furniture and art. There were several places to hang out, including a rooftop terrace. Breakfast had several choices of western or Japanese style and everything was delicious. The international staff were all very friendly and helpful. They also had numerous tours and activities that could be booked. The hotel was a short walk to the main shopping street and we even walked to Kiyomizu Temple (a pleasant 30 minute walk). Lots of restaurants and cafes are in the area too. The only downside for me was the size of the room. We had the Shoin-style room and when the futon were out, there was barely room for our suitcase and the table/chairs. I had to keep jumping over the futon to get to my suitcase. I would stay in this hotel again but book a larger room.

The facility was beautiful on the inside and provided refreshments for you in the lobby while we waited to be checked in. They provide a Landry service or the hotel is located next to a coin laundry facility. It's walking distant from all major spots in kyoto such as shrines, river, and shopping district. We had accidentally left money when we checked out in our hotel room and they were so helpful returning it. They sent it overnight postage when we had already left for our Tokyo hotel and the mail arrived on time and their customer service was incredible.

Amazing ryokan with great customer service and an overall fantastic experience in the Japanese style tatami flooring. Would highly recommend as the location is quiet but close to the market for fun bites and shopping and subways. Would also HIGHLY recommend the kimono rental offered onsite - not only is that team wonderful but the convenience can’t be beat. The price to rent kimono is comparable to standalone rental but the convenience of having direct access to your clothes and a shower afterwards is invaluable.

- Location: The Ryokan is located in a relatively central part of Kyoto that's about 10-15 walk from Shijo station with luggage. Around the corner from mini marts and assorted restaurants, the hotel provides a good list of them as some we ha actually tried before on a previous trip. - Short walk to Shijo dori and all the glitz on it - The facilities were nice with the option of a private bath in lieu of a public onsen. - Plenty of common space next to the lobby and it's tastefully done in traditional japanese style, the little gardens that border the accomodation also provide a good sense of atmosphere. - The property has lifts which makes it easier to carry luggage - The terrace on the top floor was open air and we did take advantage by having tea when it wasn't too cold - A few metres from a coin laundry was helpful, their commercial sized machines were much better than most provided by hotels.

It has very nice common areas, the Japanese style room was clean and well maintained, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. All staff seemed to know English. The bath is on a reservation system and is perfect for a 1-person soak. The location I a short walk from a subway line and quite a long walk just from Kyoto station if anyone is feeling thrifty. The main road by the property is used by some cars so noise levels pick up a little during the day. The ryokan offers many events for additional charges such as tea ceremonies, renting kimono, or sake tasting. Be sure to check those out.

A beautiful traditional Ryokan, very friendly reception staff and great services. Room - booked the traditional room, and was very large. No shoes or bags to be rolled over traditional floors. Two single beds provided. It was a great experience, but very very uncomfortable bed, but we expected it may be, but wanted the experience. The hotel offers proper beds for those that dont want to floor sleep. Services - we were able to leave our bags prior to check in, they offer a private spa (but did not try this), and gave a pamphlet with great recommendations on food and sights in the area. Location - walkable to most sights which was great! We would book again, but with a proper bed :)

This hotel is a real gem. If you want to have nice Japanese experience you will have it here. Staff is so polite and kind. Especially Pierre was very helpful and knowledgeable, he new everything but the rest of the crew was so kind as well and ready to help if needed. It was hard to leave this hotel. Breakfast is nice there are 4 options and they will accommodate your needs as well. There are some activities available for the guests at the hotel and staff will help you to join them. Bus stop and train stop is about 10-15 min walk depending where you want to travel but if you like walking most of places of interest like Gion or Nijo castle are around 30-40 min walk. Very nice experience and good value for money, definitely recommend it.

The location was great imo, there is a great ramen shop nearby which earn a michelin recognition before. there is a coin laundry shop nearby for you to do your laundry if you need it. I havent tried the private onsen due to tight schedule of mine. The room was sufficient for my stay but not too spacious, the bathroom was clean too. I didn't tried the breakfast as I prefer to have some egg sandwiches from nearby convenience store. The staff help us to arrange luggage delivery to our next hotel and help us to make our futon beds.
